Julia Sigalovsky, Ph.D., serves as a Chemistry Teacher and a special engineering projects instructor at DYRHS since the fall of 2011. She is the key project developer and instructor for Global Technology and Engineering Consortium (GTEC) projects since its interception in 2009. Together with the GTEC Founder and Executive Director, Larisa Schelkin, she created and implemented a number of pioneering GTEC international collaboration programs for 8-12 students with Russia, UK and France.

An educational entrepreneur and a math and science education expert, she has over 30 years of experience in academia, industry and education. Dr. Sigalovsky started two charter schools focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and served as their founding Executive Director: Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School in Marlborough, MA (2003-2009), and the Spirit of Knowledge Charter School in Worcester, MA (2009-2011).

She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology and geochemistry from Moscow State University (summa cum laude) and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the Russian Academy of Sciences. Prior to creating, starting and running the two charter schools, Dr. Sigalovsky had ten years of entrepreneurial experience as the founder and president of GeoTek Engineering, Inc., a geotechnical and environmental engineering consulting company. Dr. Sigalovsky’s academic background includes intensive research at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Northeastern University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in chemistry, geochemistry, and material sciences. She has authored or co-authored over 50 scientific publications in major professional journals and proceedings of national and international conferences.
